It has been a few years since we heard about the ACCESS Linux Platform (ALP) that was going to be Palm’s Linux OS. ALP is still alive and kicking and the folks at ELSE Mobile showed me the first ELSE device. It is quite intuitive and provides much of the “smart” in a smartphone I have been looking for in our devices.

Phone Arena presents you with a quick video tour of the Palm Pre Plus straight from the CES 2010 show. The device is almost identical to the Palm Pre in terms of specifications and design. The differences between the two are that the Pre Plus has double the storage capacity with its 16GB memory and lacks the button on the front.

Tinhte has gotten hold of one of the mythical machines and it looks like a pretty nifty internet tablet-type offering, although being much larger than a phone and much smaller than a netbook means it won’t appeal to everyone.

With a 800 x 480 resolution screen, it’s thought to run Android 2.0 and offer Bluetooth, 3G, a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, a microSD card slot and Wi-Fi.

At Google’s headquarters in Mountain View, Calif., Google VP of Product Management Mario Queiroz and Android Senior Product Manager Erick Tseng demo the new Google Nexus One smartphone, or as he calls it, “superphone.” The new phone is made with HTC hardware and runs Google’s Android 2.1 OS. Some of the features include GPS with Google Maps and turn-by-turn navigation, an accelerometer, a virtual keyboard, a light sensor for adjusting the display to save battery power, a proximity sensor, a compass, a 5-megapixel camera with an LED flash, Wi-Fi, a new media gallery interface with access to Picasa and YouTube, Facebook access, and stereo Bluetooth.
